Sadie's school opened their doors for our precious angels to SING praises to the Lord. It was, also, open house. What a treat to see some of the work and progress Sadie has made this year. Super-star Sadie really enjoyed being on stage and of course we relished in seeing her "SHINE". We had (happy) tears in our eyes and tonight was a reminder of the blessing we have in our precious princess pea. *Notice one of the animal cookies is missing from her art work.* LOL...

Afternoon Out and About

We took Sadie to see HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON...what a cute movie! We went to lunch before hand. My little mini-me insisted on a hairband and sweater--just like Mommy. I am cherishing these days. I know it won't be long before mom is no longer "cool". Sadie will always be "cool and stylish" to me. Stylish is Sadie's new word. Love it!

On this Good Friday, we can't help reflect on the pain and suffering our Savior endured just for US. He was humiliated, punched, spit upon and ridiculed. I cannot even imagine. I am moved to tears just thinking about it and I know all of you who celebrate Easter are too. I pray we never lose sight what Easter is about and that is JESUS! Amen? He IS Risen...what a glorious gift!!!

We spent our Good Friday with my mom & had a super day. We went to lunch, ran some "Easter errands" and we grabbed a Starbucks at the mall. This allowed Sadie-Baby to burn some energy off. We, then, capped off the day with coloring eggs, a little craft (well, that was just for me), and a new recipe for dinner. I made honey-pecan pork...super easy and super yummy.

Family Chapel Fun

Thursday morning was fun because I was invited to attend chapel time with my sweet Sadie. The children were each asked to bring a flower to transform an old rugged cross into something beautiful. Daddy capped off the day by attending her HE IS RISEN party at school AND he brought Miss Belle home with Sadie. She said she had the "perfect" day. We love living life through and with our amazing 4-year old angel. Sadie doesn't have a shirt on in some of the pics b/c she was in between princess dresses. LOL...

First Sleepover

Sadie had her first friend sleep over last night. We offered to give a friend and her hubby an extended "date night". Sweet Belle spent the night and WE SURVIVED. The girls giggled until the wee hours in the morning. I, finally, had to go upstairs and lay with the girls to ensure SOME sleep was had. Of course, my little ladies were up before the sun! But, we made it...and in all honesty, they did a GREAT job (especially at 4 & 5 years old). They were begging for Belle to stay another night and I would have been up for it if this wasn't "a school night". Yep...another milestone...and Yayyy!

Parkin' It

It was a full day at the park! Sister and I took the kiddos for a picnic at one of the beautiful ponds here in McKinney. Great weather day and our children provided us with many moments of laughs, rolling eyes and meltdowns--their meltdowns, not ours. Well, we were close a couple of times to losing it. lol!

I love these days...precious for sure!...and did I mention that Brayden is a ham???

First day of SPRING???

Our last day of winter was in the 70's and our first day of spring brought temps in the 30's and snow!!! Yes, only in TEXAS...right? We woke up to a blanket of white bliss this morning. Ron left his flip flops on the back porch and they were covered in snow! The weather reported that McKinney received 5.6 inches of snow, but we estimate our yard received at least 7 inches. We attempted to make a snowman, but we are all way too wimpy. It's beautiful to look at the white stuff...from INSIDE! We will enjoy the day by keeping warm and making some chili.

We had such a fun evening with my sister & nephews...we topped our evening off with a trip to the Yogurt store. Our kiddos had the best time--obviously! The sugar high kicked in shortly after the first bite was consumed. It was a treat for all--including the sisters.

Does anyone else have trouble keeping clothes on their child??? This seems to be a pattern lately. I am sure we've encouraged it by our laughing...I mean, this precious child will make a surprise appearance in the buff! It catches us, completely, off guard and we can't help but belly-laugh. Thankfully, today's peformance included panties and mommies high-heeled sandals. Oh, to be FOUR and not care!!!

Where To Begin?

I have completely neglected my blog since late last summer! We've been quite busy between the holidays, my surgeries and now moving (more about that later)...I don't know where to begin our blog. So, instead of playing "catch up" from the past six months, we will just start with the recent past--like yesterday.

Niki, my sis, came over and hung out with Sadie and me. What a fun time with just us girls. Nini brought Sadie a belated birthday gift and it was a huge hit. Sadie painted her glass rocks all morning, afternoon and into the evening. Talk about being occupied!

I had a great time celebrating Cheyney, the bride-to-be (this Saturday). Cheyney will be Crede's sister-in-law and as ya'll know, Crede' has been my dear friend since we were teenagers.

This was a very tame and "classy" bachelorette party. We really had a wonderful time meeting new friends and reuniting with old.

Congratulations to Trey (Crede's brother) & Cheyney. We are looking quite forward to the festivities this weekend.

Rod Rocked!

We had a fantastic time at the Rod Stewart concert. He was an amazing performer and we had the best experience. I will let those of you know, who are not aware, I was slipped something in my drink towards the end of the concert. Thankfully, my hubby and friends were able to come to my aid and take care of me. Please be careful--even overly so--when you go out. Never in a million years did I EVER think this would happen to me. I took a good FIVE days before I felt back to 100%! Please be careful out there...people are crazy!

This evening was even more special b/c our dear friends, Jill and David Maxwell, won tickets too. It was the BEST to be able to share this experience with such wonderful friends.

In spite of the drama, it was a night full of memories and I am grateful we won the tickets!!!

One of our local news stations was running a contest for 2 Suite tickets for the Rod Stewart Concert this Sunday. I had no idea the 'ol crooner was coming to town. The question was "What English city was Rod Stewart born in?"...

I am a "fan" of the news station on Facebook and a message popped up on my home page that there were still no winners. So, I just took a wild (truly wild) guess, London, and FB'd my answer.

Well, guess who's "mug" popped up on the screen at the end of the news cast???? YEPPERS!!! MINE! Ron and I were jumping around here like we lost our minds. I was just shocked...it is the first time I have one a contest and it was a fun and great feeling.

So, you'll know we'll be on Sunday evening--rockin' out to "Maggie Mae"...and many more hits!!!! Thanks TXA 21!

Ears ARE Pierced!

Sadie Baby earned her first MOOLA award (www.moolamonsters.com) and she CHOSE to get her little ears pierced. She was a champ-only shed one tear-and was ready to go & play at the indoor mall park. She feels like such a big girl and we are so proud of our angel baby. PLEASE check out Moola Monsters! It's an amazing life system for our kiddos...!

This process was bittersweet for us. This just only confirms she is growing up. I know all you parents out there identify with this. As my good friend, Crede', reminds me. Parenting is all about working yourself out of your "job". It's bittersweet indeed.

Ron and I just love this little girl with all our hearts and we are honored that God gave us the responsibility of her on this Earth. She's a complete joy ...and NOW, more "diva-like" with those shiny, blingy "decorations" (as she says) in her little ears.

We have the best friends...they created a 4th of July celebration and brought it to us since I have to be off of my feet. It was a really wonderful morning/afternoon-the food was yummy, conversation spectacular and the weather--well, H-O-T! It was perfect for the kiddos to swim.

I have the best husband, daughter and friends. Thanks for a wonderful time. Later that evening, we headed out to Mark's house for his annual 4th of July party. It was an amazing gathering and people loved my bedazzled *jazzy hands* shoe. It was a good conversation starter.

On the way home, we saw an incredible display of fireworks...! They were going off from all directions. I think we saw a portion of every fireworks show in Dallas. We, also, were spectators of the "country" fire works. That was a treat to see being raised in the city. I loved Sadie's "look" on the way home. It was an active day and she was just plain tired. Classic photo though.

I pray everyone had a SAFE and fun 4th of July. It seems to mean more, now, than ever.

Pre-surgery I got a little crafty and made some decorations for the 4th of July. I decorated and we are ready to celebrate our wonderful country's independence. Happy Birthday, USA! I am doing well after surgery and on my way to healing. I can't get around without my crutches and it's quite humorous to see me make my way around the house. Sounds a little like Forest Gump, huh? Well, that's life with my hubby. Daddy always keeps us on our toes.

Ron approached me earlier in the week about shaving his head & after a few seconds of thought, I was like, "why not?!?". This doesn't mean I wasn't SHOCKED when Daddy comes dancing through the door with his big change. I like it a lot and it's the perfect "coiffe" for his boot camp exercise program that he is starting next week.

He could seriously dawn a rainbow afro and I think he could pull it off--Don't get any ideas, HONEY!

Early 4th of July Celebration

Last Saturday we spent the evening with our fun friends, The Moates. Our city, Allen, puts on an amazing fireworks display the weekend BEFORE the 4th. Lucky Moates family has a backyard view...and lucky us that we were invited over. We had a fun evening just hangin'. Sister Jamie was there and so were Janis & Dickie. Oh, and the fireworks were, truly, out of this world. I, only, think Disney does it better...and that is saying a lot! Thank you, Alyssa, Dan & Baby Ethan for another fun time!

We've had a rewarding and chaotic week and it's all wrapped up under the title VBS! I met a wonderful new friend, a girl who is equally passionate about cooking as I am. I have enjoyed serving with my dear friend, Crede' and seeing familiar faces.

Sadie has enjoyed her week so much...she's disappointed today is the end of our 2009 VBS journey. I love her thirst to learn of the Lord and it doesn't hurt that she's having so much fun along the way. I pray many seeds are being planted in her little heart. Of course, she loves being with "big brothers" Tyler & Chase. I caught some great moments from this week.

It's exhausting, but very worth it.

We had a good 'ol time at the World Famous Mesquite Rodeo Friday night. Sadie loved watching the horses, cattle & clowns. Face painting just topped off of the evening. I didn't remember loud booms and fireworks...Sadie-Baby wasn't too fond of the loud noises--otherwise the evening was a HIT! Great family memories for sure.

More Poolside Fun...

Our summer days/evenings are spent by our pool. It is our backyard oasis and we are really enjoying the time outside, especially Ron & Sadie. Mommy is, typically, inside making food or getting water for my "babies". Sophia, even, relishes in being outdoors--that is when Daddy isn't throwing her in the pool. He's convinced to make her a water-dog. :)

Two years invested in swimming lessons and the outcome is priceless. Sadie can swim the whole length of our pool & both Daddy & I are blown away. It's awesome to see her confidence. I, so, recommend the ISR swimming course for your little one(s). Go, Sadie, Go! We won't be surprised to see our little one compete in the water...who knows, one day we could go to the Olympics!!

We're Baaaack!

...Well, actually, we've been home for a week. I have just been occupied by getting our home in order, surgery & just the day-to-day stuff. We had a wonderful time in Florida. I think we could have used a few extra days, but vacation always ends too soon no matter the time planned away.

Sadie & BB had some much needed and wonderful bonding time. BB, even, watched Sadie one evening so Ron & I could have a "date" night. Those seem to happen so rarely. It was nice to have some adult time while on vacay.

We went to the beach, Lion Country Safari, a water park, the pool, sight-seeing--we love beach towns and Ft. Lauderdale/Miami have some beautiful waterfront properties.

It's good to be home, but we do love our vacations, too.

PS-That rhino was just feet from our car. I must admit I got nervous b/c there were signs posted that the rhinos will cause damage to vehicles. We survived!!!!

Bittersweet Ending...Last Day of School

It was with happy tears we said good-bye to our wonderful school & teachers. Sadie had an amazing last day of school--water, slip & slide, and sweets. The kiddos had a pizza day and so much fun. Sadie hasn't totally grasped the concept that today was it & she kept asking me why all the mommies and teachers were crying...Oh, baby girl--you are growing up--way too quickly. Oh, and on her last day of school she spelled the word dog....D-O-G!!! Wow...!!!!

Wildflower Festival in Richardson

Sunday's weather was perfect and we took the opportunity to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! Daddy treated us to a wonderful day at the Wildflower Festival in Richardson--lots of food, play and WATER. Of course, we latered on our sunscreen and spent many hours exploring this local festival. Sadie's favorite was splashing in the timed water fountains. We truly cracked up at her enthusiam! We topped off our afternoon at Twisted Root Burgers--like the burgers, LOVE the fried green bean strips!!!

Alex Turned 2... (last week)

Last Saturday our precious nephew, Alex, turned the big 2! It's been so fun watching him grow into a very active & hilarious toddler. Alex is adorable and does a good job keeping up with his big brother, Brayden. We celebrated Alex at PUMP IT UP--a great place to burn energy and insure a good nap. We had a wonderful time honoring this precious angel-boy. I was post a surgery so, I was not up and active during the party. We didn't get very many good pictures as everything fell on Ron--keeping up w/ Sadie AND photos is a hand-full for sure! None-the-less, we had a ball and can't wait to celebrate many more years of A-L-E-X!!!

Easy Recipe -- Blueberry Lime "Tiramisu"

We had some special friends over on Friday evening and I created a new dessert that I wanted to share with y'all.

Now that our weather is getting warmer, I try to find ways to cut down on our oven time. So, this was a total experiment, but it turned out well.

I hope you try it and enjoy it as much as we did. Blueberry Lime Tiramisu

2 cups heavy cream

1/4 powdered sugar

2 containers of mascarpone cheese, room temperature

3 3oz. packages of lady fingers

1 can of lime concentrate

1 can of blueberry pie filling

Fresh blueberries

Mint

Beat the cream until it thickens. Add the powdered sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks appear. Gently stir in the mascarpone cheese. Set cream/cheese mixture aside.

Line 9x13 dish with half of the lady fingers. Brush the lady fingers with the lime concentrate. Be generous as you want the pastries soaked. Spread half of the cream/cheese mixture over the soaked lady fingers. Top with half of the can blueberry filling. Repeat layers omitting the last layer of blueberry pie filling. I used it in "plating" my dessert.

Chill for at least 8 hours--I chilled ours overnight.

Cut in squares for serving. I put a tablespoon of left over filling on the bottom of each dessert plate (for serving), placed the tiramisu on top of the filling, topped with fresh blueberries and a sprig of mint...Beautiful, light and not too sweet. I did not geta photo of the dessert plated, but it really was a cute presentation. Very suitable dessert for spring. All plates were clean!

Our little buddy, Chase, came and spent a good part of Saturday with us. Sadie and Chaser are the BEST of buddies. They play so sweetly together and it has been such a treat watching their little friendship blossom over the years. It's wild to think Chase is going to be FIVE this summer! I was able to capture a sweet moment while the kiddos were watching Little Bill. I love Chase's facial expressions...such the character! Sadie was worn out after their playtime together...she told me she used all her energy. Sweet little thing!

Texas Bluebonnets

This was our first year to take pictures in bluebonnets...This isn't because we haven't tried. We have just never found a "great" patch of our state flower. Wonderful Karen told me of an awesome field with tons of bluebonnets in Richardson. We had a GREAT morning...I took the opportunity to teach Sadie about our state flower. Sadie had fun marching around and pretending she was Dora & I had to be "THE MAP". Don't laugh!

These beautiful temps this week, here in Texas, (mid-80's) are making us want to get OUTSIDE! After Sadie's nap on Tuesday, I thought it would be fun to paint. Of course, I am smart enough to take it outside... a) we enjoy the wonderful weather and b) the mess is contained.

Well, I made the comment that I thought we stayed out too long because our precious daughter became a work of art herself. She had the BEST time ever and the stains that are left behind are all worth it. Certainly, they will come out--right?!? LOL!!!

We started off clean and ended up clean...it's that middle-part that provided the most laughs...!

We had an active week leading up to Easter & this week I will "blog" about our activities and celebrations.

Sadie had a fun and fantastic Easter party at school last Wednesday. The kiddos had treats and participated in an egg hunt. This was Sadie's first ever Easter egg hunt and it took her NO time to pick it up. She found her share of eggs and it was truly an adventure opening each egg to discover a new "prize"...

The day was blessed with truly perfect weather and smiles were had by all her classmates.

Daddy decided to spend his bday evening by treating Sadie Baby to her first outing at Peter Piper Pizza...and boy was it a hit--not only with Sadie, but with Daddy. He won Sadie over 1500 tickets and she received a cool prize! We had a fun evening for sure. I have a feeling we'll be frequenting PPP in the near future.

Another "hit" was the little "merry-go-round"... Who knows how many tokens was spent on that little contraption.

Easter Bash

Sadie had her Easter party at school today and the kiddos had quite the time hunting for eggs and eating their treats.

The weather was perfect and Sadie found her fair-share of eggs & was happy with her "loot".

Friday evening we spent with the wonderful Lehmann family. Crede' has been quite busy the past couple of weeks with her mom in ICU. Thankfully, we are happy to report that Frances is well on her way to recovery and scheduled to be released from the hospital sometime next week. Praise God!!!

Our kiddos had a GREAT time playing together and we adults had fun--as always. I am so thankful for my friendship with Crede' as I know what life is like without her...and it's much better with her in my life!

Everything old is new again! Only a few asthetic updates, the Easy Bake hasn't changed much from when we were kids. Aunt Crede' and Uncle Todd-o gave Sadie this amazing piece of equipment for Christmas & we just busted it out today. We had quite the time with our EBO. We made treats for Daddy and they were pretty tasty, I might add...FUN TIMES!

We took Sadie to have her pictures made with a new studio in Allen...they offered 10 pictures for $10 and believe it or not, I stuck to the price and felt like we made out well! Certainly, these are NOT "KS" quality, but it is nice to have a recent photo of Sadie.

Introducing THE PRINCESS...

So...for those of you that don't know, we have had a major change. We did not end up adopting the boy puppies, Baron and Beau. It's a really long story & one that is better told verbally, in person.

God works wonders in every way possible and we were blessed with the opportunity to adopt their mom, Sophia. In fact, her full registered named is Princess Sophia. She is a "blue" standard poodle and she fits our family perfectly.

Sophia is going to the vet tomorrow for her first "Allen" check up and we will follow up with an appointment to get her spayed very soon.

We are so thrilled with our newest family member and honored to introduce to you.

You never knew you would meet a real princess, huh?

Don't get too excited out there...we are not preggers!

Well...if we can't have babies of the human variety--we'll take puppies!!! YES, we do things big around this house. We adopted TWO standard poodle boy puppies. They will be coming home sometime around Valentines Day.

Allow me to introduce you to Sir Beau Baby Spaulding (black puppy) and Sir Baron Honey Spaulding (chocolate puppy). Sadie gave the boys their middle names...

Down are the trees, lights and decorations. Up went the Luau decor for Sadie's 3rd bday party. Sadie was just excited to have her friends over and to top it off there was CAKE...! Sadie had a wonderful birthday party surrounded by the best friends and family. Everyone gave Sadie so much love and she enjoyed all of her birthday presents...We feel so blessed to have such warm and genuine people in our lives. HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY (again), SADIE BABY!!! Birthday Bash at School

The challenge with Sadie's birthday being the day after Christmas is the public celebrating part. So much was going on at school right before the holidays, we decided to celebrate post the winter break. It was so much fun to make muffins and spend part of the morning celebrating Sadie and her friend, Mia (classmate that was born on 12/27). Sadie felt special with her birthday princess crown and chatted about it all afternoon. She is loving the month-long celebration for sure!!!

Three Year Check Up

Yesterday was Sadie's 3 year well-exam and she, once again, is off the charts in height. She measured 40 1/2 inches and weighs 36.6 pounds. Tall Girl! At this point, due to her consisent charting, they are predicting her to be over 6 feet tall. We'll see..., but it wouldn't surprise Daddy nor me if she is a tall woman.

Sadie showed off her jumping, running and chatting skills. She called her doctor "doctor baby" which earned a laugh and red cheeks on Mommy. Sadie, like her Daddy, knows no strangers...!

The only issue was that Sadie didn't want to leave the doctor's office. She kept saying, "I need the dr. again.".

Our sweet & amazing friends, Crede', Todd-o, Tyler & Chase, created the most amazing birthday celebration for Sadie. They had us over for a belated Christmas exchange, but also turned it into a party for Sadie-Baby including her own cake and party favors. Our evening ended with a concert supreme by the hottest rock and roll band in town starring Tyler, Chaser and Sadie!!! Thanks for a memorable and fun evening!!!

Sink Full of Bubbles; Hours of Entertainment

TV off...sink full of water and bubbles and wa-la--instant hours of FUN! Daddy filled up our kitchen sink and let Sadie go for it. She has made us "soup" and other treats and best of all, it's entertained her for hours on end...literally. She loves playing "kitchen" in the REAL kitchen and we love to see that little imagination sparkle along with that amazing smile!!!

Sadie went to the dentist for the first time today...what a wonderful patient and we, even, ventured out without our pull-up on (successfully). I haven't blogged about Sadie's potty training, but she has stayed dry for SEVEN days now. Of course, that is with the exception of naps and night-night. We are so very proud of her. Sadie has 20 teeth and they are all healthy and happy! She earned a new princess toothbrush and sparkle toothpaste and got to play with the dental equipment. Dr. Bess, even, gave her baby a quick check up...What a fun visit to see Dr. BESS & our hygienist, Ms. Carrie!

So, one of my favorite gifts (besides my laptop) was this adorable elf from the Hallmarks. I dreaded putting him away until next Christmas decorating season. He's so adorable and truly these pictures don't do Jeff justice. Sadie named him and I think it fits him quite well...isn't he just amazing?!? I know...I am Christmas-Crazy!...Or is that just crazy?!?
